just did the fly over now at mcg, watching on TV looked pretty awesome better if it was a 747.

WOW! :) What a flyover, and unlike last year when 10 showed 5 seconds of the A380, they actually stayed with it and it was very impressive!

Or an A380 like last year. But Qantas just can't spare one.

Saw the A330 from my balcony flying low as it took the unusual path initially across the inner-northwest heading east toward the city. :) Fantastic aerial footage caught of the flyover of the G - the 330 looked quite graceful actually - although it may not be as grand as the 747 or 380.
Thought I'd check out WebTrak and see the path it took across Melbourne and gee it obviously got up early and had to do a lot of circling over the eastern suburbs before it was cued to flyover during the choir's performance. It got as low as 270 metres above the G.
Here's a screenshot of the crazy track it took...

Anyone notice with the flaps down how unstable she looked. What was the wind like down there?

Very gusty winds all day with rain and sunshine - typical Melbourne winters day. Noticed it passing near our house after it completed its MCG duties

Probably because they are too busy doin a crappy job at digitally entering it into other promotional material...........
A330 laps of the city would have been pretty fun though, bet the crew had a lot of fun doing that!

Saw the flyover on the telly for a few seconds
Waggling the wings is not a good look.....aircraft looks " unstable "
Just fly straight and level.......

Was at a mate's place in Carlton watching the GF and ran out the front to see it. It's always impressive to see large aircraft flying around at low level.
I could have got a better view from home though, as I live in the north eastern suburbs pretty much where all the track lines converge on the webtrak screen dump the Brendan posted. They usually hold aircraft out this way for Formula 1 fly overs as well.

The A380 will do the flyover again tomorrow just after 2pm. Given the usual standard of following the aircraft, you might not see the decal applied for tomorrow's event. A sneak peak in case you miss it:

Can't find a departure time but it is arriving back at 3:25pm. That would be a fun flight to be on ;)

Rumour has it also that an F111 will be doing a flypast,
I have nothing to support this though, just what i've read at work.

Thanks 7 - all of about 10 seconds worth. You would think you would want to maximise that

That's what I thought! Especially for the money 7 would've forked out to stick that ugly decal on the belly...
Looked graceful, for the short time it was on screen. :) Heading back to SYD now, climbing like a rocket over the north.

From my view from the Rail bridge adjacent the MCG OQB pulled a very tight turn radius while banking over the stadium around to a 330 bearing. This after an approach from the Collingwood area.
Very impressive.

At the one end of the race track circuits, it flew right over my place. Could see most of the circuit from the backyard.
It just doesn't look that big in the air, the big wings make the fuselage look small. Quiet too!

just wondering, does anyone know the requirements regarding airspace for the flyover? I noticed on the webtrak that OQB overflew the MCG in controlled airspace before turning north through east and leaving CTA. Was there a temporary restricted area active at the time?

The A380 looked pretty awesome in 3D on the big screen at Hoyts Melbourne Central. A shame the same can't be said for the actual game, just one big blur really. The close ups and slow motion replays looked awesome though. I will be watching the re-match in glorious 2D this week.
If I had stayed home I could have stood in the backyard and watched the A380 orbit around like Martin did.
GO PIES!
