My wife arrives back in country next week after a month away in Africa. She will be arriving from Dubai on a Emirates flight arriving at 7:15. I know the weather is fickle but can anyone offer a generalisation as to whether early morning flights land to the North or South ?

We landed to the North coming back from DPS last week.

They try 34L if they can I believe before 7am as long as the tailwind for 34L doesn't exceed 7knots, but i'm pretty sure it just depends on the day

16R was used this morning, and it looks to be the same tomorrow morning. I'd put my money on 16R/L ops

G'day Kim, if you have access to the internet whilst mobile (eg on your phone or alike), you may want to check out this (http://www.rwy34.com/atis/) website when your close to see what runway is currently being used.
For example at the moment its 16 and tells you to expect 07 from 815pm. May help you out tomorrow.
Cheers

Thanks for that. As it was, despite my 4:15 departure from Canberra, the M5 was a parking lot. I raced into the Arrivals Hall at 7:55 to see the flight was delayed until 8:20. Which then allowed me enough time to go to the observation deck and watch it land.
