According to the SYD airport site, VAU2 diverted to HNL as well as BNE. So instead of LAX-SYD today it went LAX-HNL-BNE-SYD. Shes due to depart BNE at 1045.

That's a hell of a diversion, why HNL and then BNE?

HNL was a medical diversion and BNE I believe was because crew were out of hours. Hopefully the ill pax is ok.

Hey Guys ... was on this flight ... left LAX 40 mins late to avoid circling SYD prior to curfew being lifted ... naturally it all went downhill from there .... medical diversion resulting in a 2 hour detour to HNL, any further out and we could have gone to NAN but we were that little bit closer to HNL so back we turned, and i would guess HNL would be better equipped to handle the patient that NAN anyways in the current environment there .... fuel dump and then 2 hours on the ground in HNL and then of course crew out of hours so off to BNE .... VA have an excellent product and service however the ground staff in BNE let them down terribly, all was mishandled, poor communication etc, further to this the map on the PTV's had us going to be BNE for about 6 hours until it was announced which was a but of a disappointment .... anyways finally made it to melb at 1930 .... about 11 hours behind schedule ... hopefully the unwell PAX makes a strong recovery and apart from a few mishaps with BNE staff i think VA handled the overall situation well.
