The Roulettes, a C130J and an F-18 Hornet will be amongst the flying displays. Temora are sending some aircraft too. The Connie and Catalina will take flight along with a DC3. A DC4 will also feature as a ground display. There'll be vintage cars, trucks and motorbikes on show too.

Gates open at 9:30am, Sunday 28th February 2010.
Admission is $15 per adult,$5 per child, $10 concession and $40 per family.
Parking is available inside the airport grounds at $5 per car.

Proceeds will support the Illawarra Schools for Autistic Children.

hmmm assuming Kurt is correct then this does not make sense. This has been posted on the Roulettes calendar

28 Feb: Wings over Illawara, Albion Park, NSW
http://www.woi.org.au/

28 Feb: Point Cook Air Pageant, Point Cook, VIC
http://www.airforce.gov.au/RAAFMuseum/

I also know someone who spoke to the Museum Staff saying the Roulettes will be at Point Cook. I guess we will just have to see on the day

Tony G

There is a C130J-30 scheduled to be there. It looks likely it will have the 50th anniversary markings A97-450.

I will be going.

ANTIQUE planes ranging from the Lockheed Constellation to the Tiger Moth will be in the spotlight at Wings Over Illawarra this Sunday at Albion Park, NSW. The show will feature displays by the RAAF Roulettes and other defence force aircraft.

It is the wife's birthday, but I really do need to introduce my 10 week old son to the concept of airshows.....

Sounds most reasonable to me :-)

The Hornet completed its display a short time ago. I thought it was an impressive show, with lots of low level passes, high alpha climbs and good handling manoeuvres.
I haven't been to many air displays in recent years, but I reckon this performance would have satisfied the critics.

just jumped in2 the car for the trip home. Very impressed by the hole day. All exhbits were great inc 1 by our own danny rizk showing off d-rizk. Hornet display was prob better than the 1 at temora last year. It went u/s when it was about 2 leave. Had gear/hydraulics problems. Il post a link 2 photos when i look at them.

I enjoyed Wings Over Illawarra today, and although the weather was not so great, there were plenty of aircraft on display and in the air. I caught up with some of the Schofields crew who had flown down and saw a number of aircraft for the first time.

Was nice meeting you Kieran, glad you liked the big model! :)
Did you take any pics of it?

Unfortunetly the hornet once again had some problems prior to departing and after packing up all my models the hornet was still sitting idle at 5.30pm...

Grahame, absolutely fantastic photos! What lenses do you use just out of curiousity?

I managed to fill a 2GB card full of photos yesterday. The following are just a sample of the lot, and a few is bits of experimentation for me, both incorporating people in a shot as well as other angles of an aircraft. Might post some others when I get home from work tonight.

The 3rd photo of the Morava, is that VH-EMV?

Nice work yourself Maikha, there were some good opportunities to shoot an aircraft on the apron, with another aircraft taking off in the background. It was a real shame that it was overcast for most of the day, particularly when the F-18 was performing.

I was using a Nikon D300 with Nikkor AF-S VR 70-200 1:2.8 G ED and TC-14E 1.4 Teleconverter, and a Nikon D200 with Nikkor AF-S 17-55 1:2.8 G ED. Interestingly enough, I was standing right behind Steve Castle (Head of Service at Nikon Australia) while waiting in the entry queue, we had met previously at Nikon.

I was not sure what to expect from the event, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised, and would definitely go again next year.

Thanks for the promotion, not quite right, Customer Service Supervisor to be exact. Exact job title is Customer Service Executive, actually one level down from the National Customer Service Manager, who looks after both repairs and sales, I look after repairs.
