Don't know where else to post this or if anyone can help but...

In FSX my Real World Weather has stopped working. Every day it gives me clear skies, a certain temp and certain winds even though outside its totally different. It used to work quite well.

Anyone else have this problem at the moment and do you know how to fix it or is there a free alternative bit of software to do the same job?

Thanks.

Hi Brett,

I find the best way to get the most accurate weather is to use Active Sky X for FSX. It is payware but well worth it.

Hey Brett,

My FSX real-world weather does work, but it is never really accurate compared to the real world weather outside. One thing I have noticed is that flying in the United States, Canada, or some parts of Western Europe tend to yield weather in FSX which is much more representative of the actual weather at those locations in real life.

I think it basically comes down to how many weather stations are used to service a particular area in FSX. For example, Australia and New Zealand seem to be covered by only one or two stations, resulting in the same weather for vast differences in the game. That is even though in reality the weather outside in Sydney is very different from say Brisbane or Melbourne.

So what I think you should just try and do first is try flying somewhere in the U.S. or Canada and see if the weather is more realistic of the actual world.

If not, a good option would be to restore the weather files in your FSX weather folder. (i.e. go to programs -> Microsoft Games -> Flight Simulator X -> Weather...etc). Of course, to do this would require you to have a copy of all your FSX files from which you could copy and paste over the potentially "damaged" files in your FSX weather folder.

If that doesn't work, I'm afraid there isn't much else you can do apart from either using some other software such as Active Sky X which Dan mentioned above. Or else, you could do a clean re-install of the game (but then you would lose all the hours in your log-book, rewards, and any add-ons).

May I suggest you go to Microsoft Support here: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_flightsim_master#tab0 and try and contact them regarding the problem. Chances are others have experienced the problem before hand and there might be suggestions on how the fix problem.

Also another good place to try and seek further help would be FS Insider: http://www.microsoft.com/Products/Games/FSInsider/tips/Pages/default.aspx

All the best and hope all goes well. Happy flying :)
