Hi Dale,
I tend to head to the mound (http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=sydney+airport&sll=-33.945038,151.180775&sspn=0.002185,0.004823&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Sydney+Airport,+New+South+Wales,+Australia&ll=-33.945029,151.180528&spn=0.002185,0.004823&t=h&z=18) (under the control tower) for mornings. If they are landing from the north, then Qantas Drive (http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=sydney+airport&sll=-33.945038,151.180775&sspn=0.002185,0.004823&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Sydney+Airport,+New+South+Wales,+Australia&ll=-33.926171,151.174101&spn=0.002186,0.004823&t=h&z=18) is also a great spot. The Mound will show you all movements, but almost all on the ground, while Qantas Drive gives you great shots of aircraft on short final. In terms of movements, I find the best resource to use is www.flightstats.com (http://www.flightstats.com). It allows you to hide codeshare flights (which the Sydney Airport website does not) and also shows the aircraft type.
