Been in service five minutes and heard a whisper that it's already having "issues"

Really Martin, tell us more about these issues you speak of?
It is not at all uncommon for new aircraft to experience teething/technical issues during initial EIS (Entry Into Service) flying.
From memory the EIS of the A340-500 for Emirates was an experience they'd rather forget! I recall reading an interview in the most reputable aviation blurb in the land with Tim Clarke that the A380 EIS must be nothing like that of the A345.
Glitches happen, with any new product. I once purchased a portable stereo from JB Hi-Fi, plugged it in and it fried itself.......... such is life!

I don't post much in this forum and this is why. It's good to ignite debate and see what others think, but to be condescending just irritates me.

Mate, the main point of Craig's post was just to find out what issues you say OQF is having.

Martin, they call people who do what you did in your first post "TROLLS".
If you know something, say it..... if not, then best not to post at all.
Craig had every right to say what he said.
If you really did hear a "whisper" then provide in detail so people can actually be informed.

Martin, If your going to walk into an open forum and post unsubstantiated rumours and innuendo then your going to get slapped down quite quickly.
All sorts of people read this forum including the local media, it's dangerous to say anything about things that affect the general public without some sort of validation.

Thanks Stephen. I was sort of hoping someone else heard what I knew. The reason being what I was told, only a very small circle of people would know about I presume. I don't want to get my source in the **** so to speak.
I'll PM you.

You don't have to expose your source, alot of guys on here post some amazing insider info withour revealing who told them.
The simple fact is, anything that -OQF is experiencing in it's early life is probably nothing different to A, B, C, D and E.
Unless the engines are falling off or the wings are on backwards it probably won't raise many eyebrows.

Very interesting reading Nathan, thanks for posting the link.

The delivery of either OQE or OQF was delayed by several months because of what I was told was a directional stability problem which cropped up during flight test and was ~5 times the acceptable limit, resulting in QF not wanting to accept the aircraft.
I'm not sure whether the fix was hardware or software related, but's interesting nonetheless!

Please please don't roast me, I'm not trying to be picky, but I think the original poster's dilemna is that just by posting the info he is in-effect revealing his source, without naming them. Cheers.

Yes, Qantas only has 1 sole person out of thousands of staff who know of their flagship aircrafts difficulties during its entry into service :eek:
Hard not to be critical of your comments when you come up with something like that.
If the information is of such a specific and sensitive nature that it would reveal someones source easily then best to keep that information in confidence as it was probably expected to be by the source.

Damian N, Would you prefer this? It's more the self help flame guide:

Or this, where we can do it for you?

To be honest, there'd be more than one person within Qantas (and no doubt other airlines) who thinks the A380 has 'issues' in the in-service teething process. Even if he'd mentioned any specific problem, there'd probably be 200+ people who knew exactly the same.
I think his source is safe.

Thanks Damien, that was my concern. In my job, I'm very much bound by privacy and as such a bit new to posting what was told to me. That's the trouble in text, there's no expression, so it sometimes can come across the wrong way.
NickN, it's a hard decision when info is of a sensitive nature as to speak out in the interest of all, but I live and learn.
Nigel C, love the GIF files. The first one, I've actually seen a person do that!!!

I find it very interesting to see the odd armchair expert on here especially saying there is A380 troubles. Yet the airlines (SQ & QF) have publically stated in recent media they have had the smoothest entry into service of any type in their fleet.

..and you believe everything a company tells the media? Just like James Hardie said that Asbestos Sheeting was safe. Of course, the media always reports the facts with no bias!

So Martin, why would an airline tell the media it was having a good run with an aircraft if it wasn't? Airlines are customers for airliners, and would more likely play out any issues it was having in public in order to leverage the manufacturer to fix any issues it may be having if that was the case.
Both SQ and QF have quoted A380 dispatch rates of over 97 per cent and improving since they entered service which is bloody good for a total fleet of less than 20 aircraft - why would they do this if the truth was different?
And why would the media, specialist or general, be biased towards the A380? Surely most would assume that, any media bias, assuming there is any and you can support your statement with examples, would be against it, not for it?

...and yet you chose to put up an unsubstantiated claim up in a public forum without any intention of backing it up with any facts, evidence or even a source!?!?

No, I will not reveal my source!

I'm not asking you to reveal your source, I'm asking you to substantiate your unsubstantiated (unsubstantiatable?) and nonsensical claims on a public forum.
In my field, i.e. aviation, I believe what most people tell the media, i.e. me! I usually find that if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's usually a duck. I don't usually go looking for chickens unless I smell chicken!
