I guess this was bound to be happening and has been speculated for some time.
Re: International Network Schedule Changes
Qantas has made the following adjustments across our international network which will come into effect from 05 July 2010:
SYDAKL – commencement of A330-200 operations on the Tasman
AKLLAX – returns to a daily flight utilising the A330–200
LAXJFK – moves from a daily 4 class B747-400 flight to 5 days per week
utilising the 2 class A330 – 200
LAXBNE – QF16 will now operate on Wednesday and no longer on Monday
Customers can still fly five days per week from Sydney to New York with Qantas and daily on codeshare flights with American Airlines.
The Airbus A330-200 aircraft to be introduced on the Auckland to New York route will offer customers enhanced levels of comfort including the award winning SkyBed in business class and state-of-the-art entertainment in every seat.

Will this have any effect on the Melbourne-Sydney, Melbourne to Perth, Sydney to Perth A330-200 services?

Wont take long to go daily JFK with the A332 seen as the aircraft will sit in LAX anyway.

How interesting--that's the same day SYD-NRT goes to 744/332 from 333 (http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/wings-down-under/2010/02/a-very-slow-rebound-in-japanese-market.html).
Anyone know if the NRT 333 is replacing a 332, freeing the 332 up for the US route?

Not as a stand alone sector. If you were to search say MEL-NYC QF107 comes up as a option from LAX-JFK

@Jason
Thank you but its funny. SIA makes the SIN-MAN to a SIN-MAN-MUC-MAN-SIN flight ( from 28MAR ) and you can book tickets for the MUC-MAN-MUC sector.

But SQ have traffic rights with the EU to allow this. QF doesnt have the same rights within the USA

So what will this mean for QF107 and 108 PAX they fly SYD - LAX on the 747 and then change to the A330 for the LAX - JFK leg? and i am guessing this will be the same on the way home.
I am on the QF107 and !08 but in April and May so i miss the change.

QF107 and QF108 pax have always had to get off in LAX. QF107 pax get off to through immigration and customs and QF108 pax get off for the aircraft to be turned around.
Only difference now is that they'll be boarding a different type of aircraft, and on some days potentially an AA aircraft.

Hi,
With the aircraft/schedule changes on the SYD-AKL-SYD route things don’t add up.
The last flight AKL-SYD is Jetconnect QF44 B73H it then usually operates QF141 SYD-AKL first thing the next morning. QF141 will be changed to a A332 from JUL.
So what happens to the Jetconnect B73H that operates into SYD as QF44?? I cant see any return flight back to NZ?

You may find that the flights become operated by an OZ-based 737 and crew. There will be some further shuffling to occur.
There has always been errors in the 'tagging' of a flight as Jetconnect (or AO back in the day) when services are swapping between between a subsidiary and mainline. It will, no doubt, be corrected in due course.
For instance, the 332 flights are tagged as Jetconnect, though they will be operated by mainline.

Hi All,
Can someone please tell me the current Range of the QF A332's?
According to the QF website, it states their range as 8,500kms.
And using Great Circle Mapper, it shows the range from AKL to LAX as 10,467kms. A difference of 1,967kms:confused:
Unless QF haven't updated their website, the A332 will come up short, and may get wet:eek::eek:

Hi Stuart,
QF have used the A332s on AKL-LAX-AKL before so there wont be an issue on them making it.
