from photos it seems weather / visibility was not an issue, and judging by the wreckage it looks as though the aircraft hit the ground with a lot of force - none of the fuselage is recognisable. Wonder what happened ..

Many different reports are being made on the aircrafts final moments. Like always. But some reports are saying there were many go-arounds due to visibility, yet others are visibility was fine!
I understand they said the aircraft exploded but could this be another linked problem with like what happened to Cathay a few months back with no power to engines?
What ever the reason behind the crash is aircraft related I hope Airbus get these A330's fixed Quickly, When you think about it we are just lucky that QF's A330 landed safely.
Cheers

5A-ONG A330-202 (1024), a very recent addition, was the a/c involved.

As pointed out by someone on PPrune forum - one of the photos of the tail shows a mosque in the background. If the same mosque is brought up on Google maps http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=32.660911,13.119221&spn=0.002132,0.003439&t=h&z=18, it places the aircraft about 150 metres to the south of the runway centreline and about 300 metres from the runway threshold - that's a considerable way from where it should have been.

Looking at the postitive side of this story, the young boy who some how survived. Truely quite an amazing story. I am not religious at all, don't believe in any higher being or 'fate' but events like this certainly make me wonder.
By the sounds of it physically he will be fine. I hope he gets the mental support he needs, if the rpeorts are correct that he is dutch and 61 other Dutch people were killed chances are he has lost a lot of family and freinds.
Cheers

Andrew...... I said "these" as in all the A330's in the world which are still flying. Not "This or The" A330, As we have seen in pictures i don't think superglue will put this one back together.
