Hi.
I'm wondering if anyone would know what flight I saw track over HBA at crusing altitude around 10.30 EST. There was a very long vapour trail and was heading in a west north west direction. It's a very rare occurance to see vapour trails this far south.
Thanks for any information.

Could it have been QFA64?

It could have been AvWest's Challenger VH-VRE, it flew from Queenstown to Perth this morning

Great Circle Mapper puts that flight directly over Hobart so it may well have been that.

Hi Ryan
I had seen the same trail and according to Melbourne Central it was VH-VRE a private jet.
QFA63 can being seen most days heading to south africa and ANZ175 heading to perth around dinner (midday) time to early afternoon.
It's good that I am not the only one spotting down our way :D

Slightly off topic!
It was funny (not) to hear on a YMML radio station on Thur of "go outside and look at the enormous trail, it would be an 747 or 757?, they are dumping stuff".
I was at lunch and saw it, I instantly thought of the QF Syd-JNB flight (the expanding trail, the aircraft had well gone) it may not have been the ex Syd flight to JNB, but hello, it didnt create fear in my mind.
What a pathetic effort to create fear.. I am sure the upper atmosphere was very/super cold.
I have seen what I believe to be the inbound Jburg flight come over Mel, it leaves a neat trail in the winter at numerous times.
I have seen the same going eastbound to NZ ( I assume) Asian carriers, it puts the fear of god into radio listeners.
Call after call, when I am going to work.
They need to get a life. Or listen EVERY year when it comes up!
I am stunned it even gets a mention.
As most here would know in Europe in winter for (eg) there are trails after trails.
Kind regards,
Geoff
