Hi all

I've been tempted recently by some heavily discounted Flight Sim X software I saw at an EB games store recently, and would like to get some opinions before purchasing. Been recommended that FSX would make a good procedural trainer while I'm going through the phases of my license.

I currently use a MacBook Pro, and have partitioned about 10GB to run Windows XP mainly to run programs I can't otherwise run on Mac. As according to the box, FSX needs at least 15GB to run, is it overly possible to install all the files for FSX onto an external HD and run the program from there? A search on Google produces mixed results of other user's experiences, so I thought I'd ask here if anyone has ever tried it.

Pardon my very n00b question! :)

Hey Maikha,

On my old computer I used to run FSX off an external hard drive and it seems to work fine. That said, my computer didn't have less than 15gb of memory left. When you install in into your External, I think you can just copy and past the 'fs9.exe' onto your Desktop and it should be fine. Im no computer geek but thats how I see it.

would be right click on fs9.exe, hover over 'Send to' and select Desktop. That'll make a shortcut. That being said, I've never tried installing it on an external HD but Id say the only issue you would have is slower load time as transfer speed is bottlenecked by the USB connection.
