Grant's 3 words summed it up........Only in America.

Gee, if she was really that distraught, why not sue the parents, who ultimately have control over children, not the airline? Probably realised she could get more money out of the latter.

I fail to see how QF is, or should be held responsible for this...

Oh that's right, I'm sure I remember having psychic crew with gaffer tape in their onboard first aid kits during my last flight with QF..

Seriously, how is Qantas in any way liable?

I also love how she's taking it to a Los Angeles court, when the incident happened in Australia.

I hope the settlement didnt involve QF paying her anything. Unbelievable...

I had to laugh when I saw this thread's title in the forum index "Screaming child lands Qantas..." and I thought - crikey a screaming child has landed a Qantas plane!

I don't know about you all, but I get easily infuriated reading things about Americans (It always just has to be Americans) and frivolous law suits like this one.

This item came up on the 7PM project on Ten where it was reported that Qantas had in fact 'come to a settlement!!'. So looks like this person (claiming a burst ear drum) got something!

Hmmm...

So does that mean, if this person with an apparently burst eardrum, was say, traveling here in Sydney as a tourist for example, and happened to experience a screaming child on our public transport (e.g. the trains), he/she would then file a case against our NSW State transport department for damages?

Where's Judge Judy when you need her...

Was on a Turkish Airlines flight from Ankara to Istanbul yesterday and some little rat bag of a kid had a vuvuzela. In the terminal he was quite freely blowing the bloody thing. Ankara is a big empty terminal so it echoed like buggery. Luckily on board he didn't blow it. Could well imagine the damages claim if an American was on-board.

It would be interesting to see someone trying to sue a turkish airlines. :D
