DHL Express are going to replace the old 727 with a "borrowed" 757 Freighter from elsewhere in the Network starting in Septemeber. This is an interim measure apparently until a permanently Sth pacific based 757 is sourced. Not sure on date but supposed to be early September arrival of the 757 which is a network spare

So it will be the end of photo opportunities like this one, then?

I think the ones in Australian Air Express colours have all been replaced by the 737s now.

I am pretty sure there are no other 727s flying in Australia.

Any opportunities to photograph this aircraft during the day in Sydney? I've seemed to have missed it a few times when it has.

It usually does NZAA-YSSY-NZAA daytime Saturdays. Monday thru Thursday it does the trip at night with an occasional daytime charter.

The Saturday flights are regular. From memory it leaves here (NZAA) mid morning but don't quote me on that.

Often carrying Gerry Harvey's racehorses - my brother-in-law was showing me some pics inside the other day. He'd heard the 757 rumour, but it was yet to be confirmed.

Indeed it is!

My Father was a Flight Engineer on the 727's with TAA/Australian Airlines for many many years.

Was a sad day when they left the fleet back then!

Now this is the last one in Australia

:(:(:(:(:(

Yes, last one flying, but no not last one in Australia.
VH-TBS is stored at BNE for Aviation Australia in the open.

The Saturday flights have not been regular for quite some time now. Only the Mon-Thu operations are scheduled.
Only hope for daytime is a massive delay or charter service

My photo above was from last Friday morning just before 8AM, so you may be lucky at other times as well.

There is also a Heavylift 727 stored here in Cairns.

For all you DHL fans, the Jedi has cancelled its flight plan for tonight and will overnight on Dom-4. I don't know what the problem was, so I can't tell how long it'll be here for.
