News reports suggest it was a tandem skydiving aircraft with pilot, four instructors, and four foreign tourists.
It's been a bad day for the South Island.

I heard earlier today there were 3 confirmed deaths, now to find out this latest update is unreal.
My thoughts go to all their families and friends.
An absolute wonderful part of the world I believe.
Yep, the South island sure has had more than it's fair share of sadness and distress today.
I am also wishing all the good folk in the CHC area all the very best for a super speedy recovery to a "normal" way of life as soon as that can happen for them.
Regards,
Geoff
