With the introduction of PE to Tokyo and Frankfurt, have there been any refits undertaken to provide more coverage ?

What are the plans to remove FC from the 744 fleet (aside from the ER's) ?

Hi,

2 class B744s are currently being fitted with PE which will be used on the NRT and FRA routes.

9 B744s will be fitted with the A380 style cabins J/Y+/Y and self service bars from mid this year.

All other B744s will remain as they are until retired. All B744s except the 9 upgraded ones will be retired by the end of 2013. (Pending A380 deliveries)

Any further guidance of which of the remaining 2-class are in line.

I noticed on ACARS that OJJ went to avalon recently - is that for the refit ?

How long do the refits take ?

What is the order for the remaining 4 - OJA/C/D/E ?

Am off to Singapore in March and will undoubtedly get QF5/6 hence interst in seeing if all flights in that window will have PE.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Garry,

As a frequent SINner myself can I suggest that you look at a QF 9/ 32 combination instead? The only increment in price is the extra hotel night in Singapore and this makes for a much nicer flight as QF 9 arrives into SIN much earlier that the direct service and the daytime return on QF32 is far better than the red eye flight. The added bonus is QF32 now appears to be daily on the A380 and QF9 also seems to be the A380 most days.

I suppose the 9 unretired B744s will be the B747-400ERs which was newly acquired in 2003?

Arthur,

There are only six 744ER's. So the nine remaining 747's will also include the last three Roller powered aeroplanes VH-OJS / T / U.:D

Will the 2-class that are up for earlier retirement be the ones that will be used on Syd-Per-Syd from May to avoid having to reconfigure them ?

How many are still in 2-class configuration ?

As far as I can tell, Narita and Frankfurt still seem to be getting 2-class 400's even though I thought they were meant to now be running with Bus., Prem. Ec. and Ec.
