I recall American Trans Air on a few charters. Nice paint scheme as well.

Just did a quick scan of my archive and came up with the following ...
L-1011-385-3 Royan Jordanian JY-AGD being pushed back in Sydney on 13/02/1988. In the background
is Qantas B747-238B VH-EBP, and the Kangaroo on the tail still had wings.

The only American Trans Air image I could find in my archive for Mascot was this one.
B707-323C N8416 American Trans Air parked at the Qantas Jet Base on 5/12/1983. Note the two Holden Torana's and yellow Gemini.

I know I'm not in Sydney but just imagine for a few minutes that Perth is a far western suburb of Sydney.
We've had at least seven L1011s over the years and this is what I've noted since arriving in Perth in 1988 :
09/09/89 N7638BE Hawaiian (operating during the Pilots' Strike)
20/09/94 ZD953 Royal Air Force
04/11/98 HS-LTA Air Kamuchea
11/11/98 HS-LTB Orient Thai
12/11/00 N193AT American Trans Air
19/05/04 ZD948 Royal Air Force
24/01/05 ZD952 Royal Air Force
I've probably missed a few and also have some photos but don't know how to upload them.

Here are 2 I have: I think the ATA one was during the olympics. I have another photo somewhere with a Hawaiian Tristar in the background.

The only other L-1011's I can recall seeing apart from what's already been pointed out whilst I've been in the tower were from Euro-Atlantic and Caledonian Airways and an all white number from Hewa Bora Airways that diverted here en-route from Port Moresby to somewhere in the pacific from memory.
Someone may remember a date or have a photo.
Only scheduled services I can recall were from Hawaiian and Air Lanka during the eighties/early nineties.
Regards.

Hi,
I took pictures of an Air Lanka TriStar next to a DC-10-30 from UA in Sydney
in 1993 and American Trans Air in 1995. I still have to scan these in...
Just give me a week or so.

Just found a very poor negative scan showing a Hawaiian Tristar at the IT along with an Air Pacific B747-200 and PAL DC10. Taken from the old Ansett terminal with lot of reflection.

Hi Jaryd,
I'm not 100% sure but remember a while ago I read somewhere a Cathay Pacific Lockheed Tristar was sent to Avalon to be scrapped. It was a one off event.

That's a great photo Peter, despite the reflection.
