Just as I arrived back in SYD at about 1645 today I caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a 747 in the north east corner near the pond with only Star Alliance livery and no other affiliation apparent.

It was a quick glimpse as I was seated at 6 foxtrot and only saw it as we turning right into the QF parking bays, so I may have missed identifying detail.

Anyone know who it belongs to - is there some Star Alliance marketing with Virgin Blue domestic in the pipeline?

Philip,

The only frequent Star Alliance 747s where Thai and Singapore. No more from Thai and I've never seen SQ parked there. On the other hand, I just saw Air China A330 in Star Alliance colors departing at 8pm, so a good chance it was her resting at the pond.

I think what you saw was the Strategic aviation Airbus. It has stars on the tail and is often @ the pond.
