Sorry if someone has already posted this ( but I can't see an existing thread ). It is being widely reported that Oneworld are going to announce today that MH will be a future member.

This would open up a lot more options for QF frequent flyers and give OW a much needed presence in Southeast Asia.

The door closed for DJ and MH, but I think they did much better snaring SQ!

Pretty happy to see Malaysia Airlines finally get into an alliance, I found it odd they weren't aligned much sooner. Also good to see Oneworld expand :)

From my perspective (the back seat paying passenger), this is good news. I've never been able to achieve any redemption of MH Enrich awards and points always expire well before I have enough to do anything meaningful with them. Too many discounted fares I guess.
With them joining OW, I can at least accrue status credits and points with QF.
MH have a good product and the onboard service has always been outstanding. Their fares are also generally very good, giving us (particularly on the west coast) a lower priced OW option to both Europe and the US (some fares from $5k) Even a $2600 business class fare (all inclusive return) to North Asia is very good. That's cheaper than east-west coast return on QF domestic.
