Rare Ansett photo

A rare photo of the first S-61 for Ansett being towed from Port Melb to Essendon Airport in the early 60,s going through Moonee Ponds.

Nice find Paul.

Ansett also had 2 S-62A's in 1967 VH-ANA and ANE, ANA crashed in Bass Straight not long after delivery (del 12/7/67, cr 24/8/67).

I saw ANE in SYD in 1973 and sadly this too had an accident at Polmaise Island, QLD on 26 May that year (del 12/5.67).

Not sure if your photo is one of these or did they have S-61's as well?

Its an S-61N VH-BRI is the reg photo was taken 2nd Nov 64. This photo plus many more were saved from the rubbish bin.
