Hi All
We have USMC hornet squadron that flew in yesterday for TS11. In todays local newspaper they are going to do a 4 ship flyover of the V8 race on Sunday.

I believe there is, I think one will be parked in Shoalwater Bay training area because of some whinging locals in Rockhampton that didn't want the US fast jet's.

Carriers...
USS George Washington (plus battlegroup) for Darwin
USS Essex (plus battlegroup) for Shoalwater Bay - although the Essex itself has been delayed in Japan.
Mick F - I am told that Fast Jets WILL BE popping into Rocky - either emergency diversions, or for splash and dash fuelling up!

Area any carriers likely to dock anywhere for public "open days" like they have occasionally in the past?

Does anybody know which VMFA314 Hornets are operating from Townsville? I only read off codes VW08 and VW18 on Monday 11/7. Visiting on that day was a C-130, taking off around 3PM. Was this USMC KC-130J 167983 that visited Rocky on that same day? Another C-130, I guess one of the MC-130's based at Richmond, was dropping paratroopers at the Townsville exercise area around 7.30PM. Any help is much appreciated!
