View Full Version : August Noteworthy Movements
Tim Bowrey
2nd August 2011, 05:42 PM
Hey guys,
Since this is a spotting forum I think we need a thread for irregular movements, special schemes or any others that people might want to see rather than making a new thread for every flight(similar to the new aircraft one). Obviously the Bizjets will go in Grahames Corprate thread.
Planned out similar below:
August 2nd visitors
03-3124 USAF C-17 departed SYD this morning at 9:18am for CBR.
N497MC Emirates SkyCargo(Atlas Air) 744F did the HKG-SYD-HKG run QF7593/7594 today..
August 3rd
NZ1925 due 7:10am on behalf of VA due out 4/8 10am to ferry to AKL. Opp by ZK-NBW(744).
VH-OEI back as QF8 from DFW after first service in new scheme.
Peter Agatsiotis
2nd August 2011, 06:15 PM
Good idea Tim, one to add for today:
ZK-OKO B77W operated its first visit to SYD as NZ102/103.

VH-OEJ is in tomorrow. 50% chance it will be departing as QF7. Either that or it is VH-OEF
Tim Bowrey
2nd August 2011, 08:59 PM
VH-OEJ on decent for SYD now from EZE so could go anywhere tomorrow.
Jason H
2nd August 2011, 09:13 PM
There will only be 2 ERs in Sydney tomorrow able to operate QF7, that's why it's a 50% chance. Otherwise, yeah, it could be going anywhere
Brad Varney
2nd August 2011, 10:33 PM
Do the ER's fly to LA or London?
thanks
Jason H
2nd August 2011, 10:46 PM
Brad, the ERs are primarily used to the US and Buenos Aires. Lately, there is one ER that operates MEL-LHR return for positioning back in MEL to fly to LA.

Guys, how about we don't hijack Tim's excellent suggestion with such discussion otherwise people will have to trawl through a whole load of banter they might not be interested in and miss notification of a rarity they may want to see.......
Let's just keep this as a simple notification thread/sticky and raise a seperate thread if you want to discuss other matters...
Just a thought.
Cheers

Exactly right Wayne. I think it is a good idea for Sydney spotters. , I love reading about what is going on in Sydney and all the stuff that is coming and going. But I think before it gets set in stone, I think the criteria as to what is defined noteworthy needs to be addressed. Not trying to be hard on the subject, but if you don't get it right then arguments will start and the threads will drag along, and as Wayne said "you will have to trawl through a whole load of banter". There is another forum which does this same typ of thing of noteworthy movements. Trust me, their have been arguments galore about the movements which have been put into that thread.
These threads in my opinion should be for...
- Any 1st time visitors to Sydney for current airlines, domestic and internation; (new aircraft colours, aircraft types, special schemes , 1st time regos)
* In my opinion on this subject though is that QF , VA are included. VA only for 1st time visits (rego or repaint), QF on other hand (delivery flights, ferrying after repaint, 1st time visits e.g B738's or DHC8's, 1st flights of A380's or B744's after repainting or after placement of special decals)
- Any foreign airliners which are NOT frequent into Sydney (excluding bizjets). E.g C17's, Freighters, charter flights etc.
This is my opinion based on what has been done on similar topics on other forums. Like i said it is best to get this banter of what is classified and not classified as noteworthy. To some spotters certain things are notewrothy which aren't for others. Example is VH-OEJ, OEB, OJU hes are common into Sydney currently with their logos and schemes, this to me is not classified as noteworthy. If they were to change schemes or have modifications added onto scheme. just say VH-OEJ have its scheme removed and put into new colours then that is classified as noteworthy.
I will most probably get blasted for some or all of this but, this is the way I see it...

Is to early to put in a noteworthy movement for September but Donald Trump is coming on September 20th, so hopefuly we'll see a Jedi when he comes in his own 727-100 which would be good to see...

B-LAM is on its way as CX101 so first visit to Sydney today.
Tim, I noticed ZK-TLD departing not long ago so I'd say this is your a/c.
Paul Hunter
6th August 2011, 10:31 AM
The Toll 737 ZK-TLD wasn't a cancelled flight.
It was operating a freight service for Air Caledonie Noumea/Sydney/Noumea.
Used an Aircalin callsign as well. I think it was ACI157 from memory.

Not noteworthy but VH-QOF was struck by lightning operating QF1475 just after departure from Sydney. So if anyone is wondering why there are a few cancelled Q40 services to Canberra tonight there's your reason.

Although I love big red to, I think tims idea was to have movements of aircraft that are not normally coming in to YSSY painted up or otherwise (not biz jets that belongs to another thread). Big red is in quite often so is that an unusual movement maybe not, but there's a clue I suppose if it's in regulary it's not that unusual, the Kalita 742 thread is one in my opinion that should of been put in here as an example that I can think of. And like the advice that someone else gave on this thread, maybe and I'm guilty of it now aswell, that there really shouldn't be any banter with this thread just list the movements, to much trawling through the talk to find what you want....
Tim Bowrey
8th August 2011, 09:07 PM
Thanks Jaryd, the Kalitta 742 should be here.. Who knows why it's not? This thread isn't for conversations, just post movements non corporate and that's all. Thanks.

8th August 2011, 09:56 PM
I have never photographed big red before and i've been meaning to photograph her for quite some time! haven't seen one in years.

Today Air China had both their special A330's B-6075 and B-6076 in. Although theyre common to SYD its rare to have them both here at once.
Also, Skytraders A319 was in and out this morning.
Just a heads up also that the Kalitta 747-200F is back on Wednesday the 17th as posted in the other topic but should belong here I guess.

While we are happy for this thread to continue for the use of information regarding movements of interest (i.e special schemes etc), we would prefer any special movements (unusual visitors) to be posted as new threads in the spotting & movements section to prevent important information for spotters from getting buried in month long threads.
Paul f.
13th August 2011, 06:45 PM
Why,this was a good idea to keep noteworthy movements for each month in one thread, otherwise you end up having too many threads for individual movements.
Tim Bowrey
13th August 2011, 08:08 PM
I'm with you Paul. This was to keep all the good movements SYD gets under one area. The corporate one gets its own so the Civil should too, shouldn't it? Since this is kind of the 'Spotting and Movements' side of things.
Tasman Cargo's new 757-200F(G-CSVS) just passed over Whyalla enroute to SYD.

13th August 2011, 09:59 PM
How about those posting special movements do so in Bold to distinguish their posts from others generally commenting such as above or querying. That will make it easier to read, and i agree having 200 threads is stupid when you can have a running one. Easy solution- if you want to know whats in recently ie past day or two just go to the last page of the thread!;)

I think this is a good idea for a thread. I'm interested in anything interesting (including Wunala, Etihad F1 or any special liveries) that might be at Sydney on Wednesday. Managed to score a day off and a visit to the airport could be on the cards for something good looking.
Sounds like I might miss OJO though :(
