Air Ambulance movements

Afternoon all, was watching webtrak yesterday and noticed the Air Ambulances doing their thing so got watching where they went. The answer is obviously where they are needed but what I found interesting was that so many routed back via Orange, even some that went to Wagga or Port MacQuarie as their first destinations. The airport at Orange is way out of town so would have thought there would have been better options (ie airports closer to hospitals). And obviously the callsign number is assigned to whoever is piloted the aircraft.
