Skynews was obviously in a big rush to publish this story with the headline...

Qantas plance forced to return,

the story was Updated: 08:48, Monday October 17, 2011, but not the spelling of plane, for consistency they included vision of an airbus 380

Mmm, I thought QF52 started in Singapore? I hope so, since I am this flight tonight! Gees...

It was QF2 that had the engine issue, not QF52.

Aircraft was VH-OJS according to 'avherald.com'.

That's what I thought given there is a thread about QF52 in this forum.

My remarks were such because the initial report on sky news was about Q52. I was 'having a go' at the sloppy media. However, thank you to those who corrected my apparent error.

Have all of the QF 747s with RB211's had the modifications to the HPC blades completed?

Sky News obviously could not have been in THAT much of a hurry given how many hours it took them to publish the story. I first heard about this from a passenger on Facebook just past 3AM this morning. Contained failure to number 3 engine some ten minutes after takeoff.

Here's a pic he posted of the flight path (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150422777372853&set=a.137045832852.133019.566652852&type=1&theater).
