Looks like Etihad's replacement of V on SYD-AUH to allow V's 777s to enter mx (as previously reported in the AFR) starts in Feb.

Any idea how V managed Y+ pax originally booked on V but will now be in Y+ lacking Etihad 777s?

Evening all,

By the looks Etihad will swap one of their A346 flights to a B777-300ER 3 days a week.

From 06FEB12 to 09APR12, ETIHAD is increasing Abu Dhabi – Sydney service from 11 to 14 weekly. Additional 3 weekly flight is operated by Boeing 777-300ER. Its partner V Australia is temporary suspending this route during this period as its own Boeing 777-300ER is to undergo scheduled maintenance check.

Schedule:

EY450 AUH1010 – 0720+1SYD 346 x135
EY450 AUH1030 – 0715+1SYD 77W 135
EY454 AUH2200 – 1910+1SYD 346 D

EY451 SYD1555 – 2340AUH 346 x246
EY451 SYD1605 – 2340AUH 77W 246
EY455 SYD2150 – 0535+1AUH 346 D

I wonder how long the 340NG's will grace(?) our skies. I think a bunch of airlines are now saying "it was a good idea at the time" but the 777NG's seem to have virtually ruled them obsolete overnight.

Hi Stefan

EY450/451 has always been 4x weekly with A340, the VA flight slotted into the days that these flights don't operate. So EY's normal SYD schedule is 11x weekly.

Cheers

More 77Ws getting repainted? The timing seems to fit into a repaint.
