Split over a a large number of Boeing 737-800s and -800MAXs and a smaller number of A320NEOs.

Quite jawdropping, considering they come from a fairly small home market. It looks like they're either setting themselves up to fill the void of one of the majors collapsing, or to expand into a much larger part of Europe.

The press is also saying this is the largest aircraft order in European aviation history, and the largest investment ever made in Norway (outside of the offshore oil industry)

When I emigrated from the country, they were flying a small fleet of Fokker 50s on regional services on behalf of Braathens (BU).

Jawdropping yes.
But Ireland is an ever smaller home market, for a company like Ryanair.
Norwegians 122 Boeings and 100 Airbusīs on one plate.
Not bad.
And may I add something, Iīve flown both these companies, and thereīs a huge difference to the benefit of Norwegian. Huge, huge difference.
The attidude from the staff is number one, on Norwegian you are treated as human being, not cattle, as is the case with Ryanair.
Norwegian flies from the major airports, not the outback airports.
Seating yes, no extra cost to print your own tickets!!!
WiFi onboard, while Ryanair is planning to charge you for using the toilet.
Need I mention any more...?
So go Norwegian! Go.

Cheers
