noticed that todays SYD/NAN flight at 2pm was supposed to be a 744, but the NAN/LAX is saying a 772 ?

Also LAX/NAN flight is delayed something like 11.5 hours.

Has one of FJ's 744's gone U/S ?

Who's 772 are they using ? NZ's 773 ? SQ's (who own the FJ 744's I believe) ? or UA's ? or AA's ????

One of thier 744s went U/S at LAX last week and they were having a backlog to clear so that was causing signifcant issues. Maybe it has got worse than just a few days.

They were also putting the 747 to HKG this week I believe and retiring thier 767 so that might have happened at the worst possible time.

It is a couple of days old but this might explain it and the 772 appears to be from NZ:

NATIONAL air carrier Air Pacific says the delays experienced because of an engine change on one of its aircraft resulted in a schedule change.

A statement issued by the airline said the delayed scheduled engine change to its B747-400 aircraft in Los Angeles had resulted in the departure and arrival time changes for the LA and Auckland serviced routes.

The airline said the Los Angeles/Nadi flight initially scheduled to depart LA 1:05pm Tuesday, departed at 2:35pm instead and arrived in Nadi at 9:20pm yesterday.

It said the next Los Angeles/Nadi service that was scheduled to depart LA at 10pm on Tuesday, was rescheduled for 8am yesterday, and would now arrive into Nadi at 2:30pm today.

The airline said because the delay of the inbound aircraft from Los Angeles, today's Nadi/Auckland/Nadi service would also be affected.

"Air Pacific has chartered an aircraft from Air New Zealand to service this sector, as a result of this aircraft change, the scheduled Auckland/Nadi departure time will be as published; however, the Nadi/Auckland service will be delayed until later that afternoon," it said.

They had an Omni Air International 772 and Atlas Air 744 (pax) operate for them to cover for the situation too.

Was hoping one of these would sub on Sydney flights but nothing so far.
