Tyre bursts as Indonesian jet lands - news report

One of the tyres of an Airbus A320 operated by private Indonesian company Batavia Air has burst upon landing in North Sumatra, but none of the 147 people on board was injured, a report said.
The incident took place as the jet, which had left Jakarta's Sukarno-Hatta airport, landed at the Polonia airport in Medan, North Sumatra, at around 10:00am Sunday (1:00pm AEST), the state Antara news agency said.
The plane was carrying a crew of seven and 140 passengers, Antara said.
The Batavia Air office at the airport and the officer in charge there declined immediate comments.
Antara quoted one of the passengers as saying the plane had circled above the city for about an hour before landing and that the crew had informed those on board that there was a problem.
The accident led to the airport being closed to flights for a time as the plane was sitting on the runway, Antara said.

Aircraft involved was PK-YVE... the most dilapidated 320 in the country's register, and has a dispatch reliability record that can be beaten by well maintained 30 year old 737-200s.

The aircraft is reported to be a nightmare for the airline from the day it took delivery of it from TransAsia Air of Taiwan... the delivery flight saw a total HYD fail forcing it to return to Taipei. Whenever we hear a Batavia 320 having problems (especially HYD), it's most likely -YVE.

Anyways...

Flight number 7P-591, conflicting reports on the extent of the "damage". What we know from what we gathered locally here, the aircraft appeared to have hydraulic problems (again), witnesses said the aircraft came low several times before climbing again (possibly trying to extend the landing gear), and after a while, they decided to land using gravity extension, and left man landing gear would not lock down. After touchdown the brakes locked and this resulted in the tireburst.

Batavia Air, and Medan Airport finally made their statements after the quoted news article in the thread starter was released.

Delays quickly spread... lots of crew schedules revised...
