View Full Version : Malaysia Airlines to Start A380s to Sydney in September 2012

Afternoon all,

Update at 2345GMT 12MAR12

As per 13MAR12 GDS inventory display, Malaysia Airlines starting 25SEP12 is launching Airbus A380 service on Kuala Lumpur – Sydney MH123/122 service. The A380 aircraft will operate Daily, replacing Boeing 747-400 aircraft. With the latest replacement, MH’s remaining Boeing 747-400 scheduled operation is Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow MH004/001 service.

Despite the airline’s claim to carry 494 seats on A380, the airline’s seat map for SYD service is displaying 487 seats, same as London Heathrow flight (see report on 05JAN12).

MH141 KUL0900 – 1850SYD 772 D
MH123 KUL2210 – 0800+1SYD 380 D

MH122 SYD1400 – 2030KUL 380 D
MH140 SYD2140 – 0420+1KUL 772 D

MH122 from Sydney sees A380 service from 26SEP12, replacing 747-400

Evening all,

As per 05JUN12 GDS timetable and inventory display, Malaysia Airlines has postponed planned Airbus A380 service on Kuala Lumpur – Sydney route. The airline is now planning to start A380 service on MH123/122 flight starting 25NOV12 (eff 26NOV12 from SYD), instead of 25SEP12.

From 25SEP12 to 24OV12, MH123/122 continues to be operated by Boeing 747-400. Schedule:

MH141 KUL0900 – 1955SYD 772 D
MH123 KUL2240 – 0935+1SYD 380 D

MH122 SYD1540 – 2050KUL 380 D
MH140 SYD2155 – 0320+1KUL 772 D

As ever, my timing is out - MH flights at the end of this month, 744 both ways. Pity the A380 couldn't have been earlier :)

Kuala Lumpur – Sydney Operational aircraft changes
MH123/122 See Airbus A380 operation below
MH141/140 Airbus A330-300 replaces Boeing 777-200ER from 07MAR13

Malaysia Airlines is to introduce Airbus A380 service on following routes starting 25NOV12 from KUL (inbound flight from 26NOV12), in addition to Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow:
Kuala Lumpur – Sydney MH123/122, replaces Boeing 747-400
Kuala Lumpur – Tokyo Narita MH088/089, replaces Boeing 777-200ER

Boeing 747-400 operation:
Planned last Boeing 747-400 service as follows
Kuala Lumpur – London Heathrow MH004 on 24NOV12, MH001 on 24NOV12
Kuala Lumpur – Sydney MH123 on 24NOV12, MH122 on 25NOV12

As ever, my timing is out - MH flights at the end of this month, 744 both ways. Pity the A380 couldn't have been earlier :)
I'd be ecstatic, you get to travel on the dying breed that is the pax 744 and you can surely snag an A380 flight quite easily in the future as their numbers will only rise! ;)

As it turned out, the flights were absolutely fine - I'm a slightly nervous flyer usually, but only realised we'd touched down in KL when looking out of the window. And the trip back in J (due to a nedical condition) made the flight world seem fine - although I was slightly guilty that the rest of the family were still in Y....

As for the 777->333 switch, I think I suggested that as a likely outcome, but paerhaps on another forum, last week. Yay me! :)

Morning all,

Malaysia have cancelled their planned A380 service to Sydney. b744's will be hanging around until 28 February 2013. From March MH123/122 will revert to a B772, and MH141/140 changes to a A333 as planned.

As per 05OCT12 GDS inventory display, Malaysia Airlines has cancelled planned Airbus A380 service to Australia. In addition, planned Boeing 747-400 retirement is also postponed till Feb 2013, which continues to operate service to Sydney.

Kuala Lumpur – Sydney Planned A380 service on MH123/122 from 25NOV12 is cancelled. In addition, Malaysia Airlines has revised planned Boeing 747-400 retirement date, which the 747-400 continues to operate MH123/122 until 28FEB13 (01MAR13 from SYD)
MH141 KUL0900 – 1955SYD 772 D
MH123 KUL2250 – 0945+1SYD 744 D

MH122 SYD1540 – 2050KUL 744 D
MH140 SYD2155 – 0320+1KUL 772 D

MH123/122 from 01MAR13 (02MAR13 from SYD) operates with Boeing 777-200ER.

Sydney's A380 is going to London to make twice daily A380's.

Melbourne's A380 is going to Paris CDG from March 2013.
