Doesn't look good, there has been a Norwegian Hercules missing in the northern part of Sweden since yesterday afternoon. After a few years of working on Aussie J models, it quite sad to hear one go down. The herc was part of an exercise. Very interested to hear what caused a basically new aircraft to go down.

Search and rescue efforts are set back due to weather.

There was bad weather in the area at the time, and they are currently working to the theory that it has hit the Northern ridge of Kebnekaise mountain in Sweden.

The aircraft was taking part in the Cold Response exercises and was on the way from Evenes airport in Norway to Kiruna in Sweden to pick up supplies and troops.

Added: The article (in Norwegian) has a photo of the area they are searching in. http://www.vg.no/nyheter/innenriks/artikkel.php?artid=10079158

Several pieces of wreckage presumed to be from the C130 have been found spread over a large area around the summit of Kebnekaise mountain and on the radial glaciers.
