Catalina, C-47 and Caribou made a coastal run. I saw them passing Cronulla but I'm not sure where they went to from there.
Lots of the HARS fleet has been active recently around Wollongong, no doubt in preparation for not only ANZAC Day, but also the upcoming Wings Over Illawarra festival in early May.

Nigel - they went up to Sydney and overflew the march there. Nice!

They certainly did - I was on Elizabeth St with a bunch of ex Lancaster aircrew preparing for the march when they flew over in line astern. Each one of the veterans around me stopped for a moment and looked up to enjoy the Sound of Round :)

So you're in Sydney now, but will you be around for the spotting weekend?

No, I was only in Sydney yesterday - just flew up for the day. I've been carrying the banner for the 463-467 Sqn Association for the last few years and they asked me to again. I had the day off so I grabbed a cheapy Virgin fare.
Doesn't look like I have the spotting weekend off, unfortunately.

HARS are up & about tomorrow (ANZAC DAY 2013) with the DHC-4 Caribou, C-47 Dakota & the PBY Catalina!
The venerable flight would travel from its South Coast home-base at Albion Park, making flypasts of Shellharbour, Kiama and Wollongong on the way to Sydney. The formation is due over the city between 10.30am – 11.00 am, subject to Air Traffic Control (ATC).
“We’ll be flying at 500 feet along the coast and, upon arriving Sydney, climb to 1500 feet to make several beats across the harbour and city, passing over the Anzac Day marchers as they make their way along George Street,” HARS spokesman, Doug Haywood said.

I saw the three aircraft from a distance and they looked great. Does have anyone have details of the three aircraft that were flying. Regos?
Thanks

Hi Winston,
That particular post referred to last years YSSY Spotting Weekend which was held on the 12th May.
There are currently no plans for an official 2013 Spotting Weekend.
