Las Vegas' new Terminal 3 opened on June 27 to the traditional water cannon for the first arrival and typical Vegas fanfare. A great video in the article here (http://www.lvrj.com/business/mccarran-s-2-4-billion-terminal-3-receives-first-flights-160644745.html).

But what interested me was the comments about auto docking, where lasers guide the planes to the gates instead of ground crew (both were used for the first arrivals as a precaution).

It mentions that several airports around the world have auto docking installed. Do any Australian airports have them, or are their any board members with experience in auto docking? I'd never heard of it before and am intrigued.

You're welcome.

Sydney uses a variety of these systems across all the aprons; AGNIS PAPA, FMT, Safegate and Safedock.

The good old fashion guidance systems with red, green and white lights is the best.Stay away from the red, have two greens and use the stop board to the left works best. All the new stuff are far to sensitive and are always going out of alignment.
