EY is also flying a mix of A340-500 and A340-600 to SYD Callum, not only VS.

Callum, we also have Aerolineas Argentinas and LAN Chile :)
James S.
2nd July 2012, 07:44 PM
Tomorrow Aerolineas Argentinas will begin their direct service from Buenos Aires as AR1180 due in at 1320 and out as AR1181 at 1900 ops by A340-300.
That's gonna be one hell of a long takeoff roll and slow climbout!

Flightradar24 and the sydney airport website show that MH122 was delayed and left the gate at 19:50pm when scheduled for 14:00pm. Anyone know the cause of this delay?

Near Qantas Drive. They are using 16L/16R at this stage.

Qantas drive Callum there 16L/R arrivals at the moment, are you taking video or photos.... If video the mound, I have a general rule when im taking photos of a shot in the air and on the ground, so could go QF drive arrival, the mound or beach depending on time of departure for shot on ground..

The Ikea Car park is good for photographing 16R arrivals.
Very convenient.

Hi there,
Doing some virtual spotting on Webtrak I noticed that last Sunday, 1 July there was a whole series of departures on 34L where a wavy path is shown from takeoff out as far as Windsor. This occurred from at least 10.20am til after midday. (For example see CCA176 and JST764 at 11.07am.)
I can't remember seeing this on Webtrak before. I'm curious if this was something to do with the guidance systems available (or unavailable). Or perhaps it was just windy conditions? I noticed that the Webtrak system was recently upgraded. Perhaps it is now showing a higher resolution or different representation of the data?
Regards,
SW

Virgin Atlantic A340-600 G-VSHY has left the Virgin Atlantic fleet and is currently having the livery removed at Manchester.
It appears it's last revenue flight was on the Sydney-Hong Kong-London VIR201 flight on the 12th June.
Hendra Barnes
4th July 2012, 09:35 AM
Good to know Shane. I wonder if I had taken any snaps of VSHY once before.
Out of curiosity, would you know of the other A346 (which rego) leaving the fleet?
Also, what's next for VSHY?
Should we make a thread specifically for VS A346? :p
Shayne G
5th July 2012, 08:28 AM
I think it is the oldest birds leaving the fleet. I believe 4 leave this year and are being returned to Airbus.
Yes, if there is any significant interest in the happenings of the Virgin Atlantic fleet that visits Australia then someone can create a thread for it. :)

Not the rarest movement but pretty uncommon with visits from Alliance today. Same aircraft will operate both flights.
QQ553 Arrive from TMW 1100
QQ554 Depart to TMW 1200
QQ555 Arrive from TMW 1315
QQ556 Depart to TMW 1455
Alliance Airlines F100 VH-FWH scheduled to operate the flights.
Even for a jet that's a big ask... 1hr 45m to get to TMW and back... doesn't leave much time for the turn at TMW?
Shayne G
5th July 2012, 09:05 AM
QQ555 arrives at 1336 according to flightaware. Some of the other times are a little different, give or take a few minutes.

Yes Rowan, looks like a very tight schedule. Busy day ahead for this bird!
EDIT: Aircraft is now significantly off schedule. Follow the flightaware link to keep track of it if anyone is after it. :)

There are some colorful aircraft in today, this is for you that are on school break most of us have seen these aircraft so if you haven't got it this would be the day.....
Etihad is A6-EHJ (formula 1), Thai is HS-TGW (star alliance), and China Eastern is B-6100 (expo) on top of ya EVA Air at 9:30, Philippines 773 RP-C7775 is the new one which visited the other night not sure if it has come in during the day yet...
And at about 1:30 pm if it takes it's normal course Singapore 77W 9V-SWI (star alliance) will be flying over top of the city, it never comes here...
Nice info Jaryd. This is exactly the posts I like. As I miss out on most of these due to work, so for me these are all noteworthy. But I got to tell ya, some newbies get their heads bitten off for posting these movements. I think this is the sort of post that is aimed to go into the July discussion thread. Cheers. I wouldn't mind catching the star alliance SIA 777.

Yeah fair enough Tony but since that thread is for movements only I decided to put it in there. I don't care so much about the special livery's being mentioned in fact I don't mind, for example I would like to know when 9M-XXF is in because like yourself I can't get out in the week even though it's come in heaps lately.
That's just one opinion though out of many and considering Tim's original idea was to mention one off's or first appearances, my opinion doesn't really fit that idea. So for me any info on schemes is appreciated but I also realize that some times you have to do the digging up of info for yourself because it probably wont get posted and that's probably where the younglings get in to trouble there was just question after question about when this or that would be in and I think people got jack of all the banter instead of actual movements being posted.
The way it's setup now is good it contributes to a healthy relationship between the veterans and the newbys and hopefully no one will be getting there heads bitten off, I just hated question after question that's all, the newby's have to realize that some info you are just going to have to look up for themselves and to stop relying on others for info. We all have had to do research so instead of all ways taking they can also contribute to this forum....

That's cool mate. Trust me, I liked your post, but there are members like Tim and a few others that have tried hard to get the thread sorted out, and I think it's working out. During that process I think it may have pi&$ed a few members off.
Im like you, I don't mind either way, all news is good news to me. I also hate trying to come across like a moderator ( no offense to you guys:)) but I just felt bad about the others that were just trying to post movements like you did in the past and then being made to feel they have broken a law, when all they are trying to do is fit in.
Anyway, if find out when XXF comes in or SIA Star alliance let us know. I'm still after the Optus qantas 737. Cheers mate.

Correct me if im wrong Paul, I beleive I seen it once.It was in the evening though, about a few months ago.
Paul f.
8th July 2012, 12:22 PM
I cant answer that one but AFAIK SYD dont get 77W,s what you might have seen was the 773 9V-SYE that is in the Star Alliance livery.
Jaryd stock
8th July 2012, 01:21 PM
It has only come in once Paul and I think that was an equipment change and in old Star Alliance livery 9V-SYE
Paul f.
8th July 2012, 01:33 PM
It would have been the B773 9V-SYE as the 77W in the star alliance livery has a white tail.
Jaryd stock
8th July 2012, 01:45 PM
Yeah it was last year, don't they have two now with the white tail livery?
Paul f.
8th July 2012, 02:26 PM
9V-SWI and 9V-SWJ.

8th July 2012, 02:40 PM
Cheers Paul, and staying on this subject why is it we never see the A333 in here with this livery?
Paul f.
8th July 2012, 04:29 PM
There is no SQ A333 in the Star Alliance livery AFAIK.

8th July 2012, 05:13 PM
That would be why one hasn't come in although I heard they were going to do one

Hey guys, hope someone might be able to help me. Was at the airport spotting yesterday afternoon (25/7/12) and just wondering if someone could tell me the flight numbers and routes for these aircraft arriving at Sydney.
FedEx MD-11 N612FE
Qantas A380 VH-OQD - got data from FR24 that it was QF6012 from BNE? is this correct?
Cheers for any help!
Dan
Rowan McKeever
26th July 2012, 02:24 PM
Dan, OQD was the QF12 diversion to BNE... QF8012, a B744, took the pax BNE-SYD with OQD following afterwards as QF6012 (because of crew hours as I understand it).
Jim M
26th July 2012, 03:22 PM

That follow on repositioning flight for OQD was QF6018 I believe and OEE operated QF8012 with the QF12 pax.

Just tracking VH-VBL on flightaware it's doing a Adelaide - Brisbane run. It's just started it's descent but it appears it only cruised at FL250 which seems quite unusual for a 737-700.

No not really... There could be a variety of reasons, from non-retractable landing gear to pressurization issues to weather...
