A full page advertisement appeared in Saturday's "West Australian" outlining
progress to date with the transformation of Perth airport :

Main points were :

Construction of the new $120 million Domestic Terminal is more than 50%
complete. The first flights are expected in five months with the Terminal being
fully operational in January 2013 when Skywest, Alliance and Tiger commence
services.

Tenders will be invited in August for construction of the new $290 million
Domestic Pier which will become the base for Virgin Australia in 2014. The
contemporary design with upward sweeping roof and large glass area at the end appears to be spotter friendly.

Expansion of the International arrivals area has commenced with Immigration
processing moving to a new area on the first floor.

Construction of an A380 capable gate will be "fast tracked" within 12 months
which will then allow International airlines to commence A380 services to Perth.

(Emirates will be moving to 3 services a day shortly and is very keen to use
A380s on the DXB-PER route.)

Cheers

Thank you for the main points, Bob.

Similarly there's an online monthly newsletter which details the progress of PER's redevelopment.

Now they just need to build what they actually need... another runway.

The departure delays in Perth are now obscene, and no amount of terminal building is going to fix that.
