Is the Hainan service a different one to the one that is supposed to start in November from Shenzhen i believe, if my memory serves correctly?

Morris,
If you referring to the one In this thread...http://www.yssyforum.net/board/showthread.php?p=74867&highlight=Hainan#post74867 then it appears it is a different routing to the one they have now applied for. I am not if reservations for the flights are open in the link I have have provided. Which means I am not sure if these flights are happening.

Ok, worst case scenario we will get 3 or 4 services per week, but hopefully 7 per week if both routings go ahead. Thanks guys.

Yes Hainan's service from Shenzhen is open for reservations. Times have had a small change, 0730 arrival and 0930 departure, still three flights per week.

Does Hainan still operate a service to SYD, apart from this new one
I was there 4 weeks ago and didn't notice any Hainan aircraft there

Jacob,
Hainan don't operate to Sydney anymore. The ceased back in Feburary 2012. They were to re-start again but never did.
