No, today's flight was the last!

Air Austral from 16AUG12 will cancel St. Denis de la Reunion – Sydney – Noumea service, currently operating twice a week with Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.

Reservation for travel on/after 16AUG12 is closed.

Does anyone know whether the Qantas 744 transporting the Olympians from London is coming into Sydney? Thanks in advance...

Do we have any idea how the All Blacks get into town for this Saturday's match? Any chance for the All Blacks T7 / 320??

Cheers!

No, today's flight was the last!

Kept an eye on flightstats over the past week and didn't see another 951/952 listed after the 14th.

Anyway here's the last 952 service on Tuesday arvo.

Anyone know why its called Air Austral? Is it a french word or something, its just missing the ia at the end then it would be a local airline.

Jarden, without being too nerdy, the word Austral is derived from the Latin word Australis which means relating or having to with the South. Reunion is one of the more southern inhabited islands of the Indian Ocean. I believe the unit of currency in Argentina is also called the Austral.

Hi Dave

Being equally "nerdy", the Austral was used in Argentina (from memory) in the late 1980s, but they now use the Peso.

Thanks both Dave and Mark for your replies so thats the reason why its name is similar to Australia.

Thai Airways Flight 476 is diverting back to Sydney according the flightradar24 and flightaware. http://flightaware.com/live/flight/THA476
Anyone know the reason?

Tonight's EK413 from AKL is delayed and is now arriving 6:30am tomorrow morning as "EK8413".The usual EK412 will be on the ground just before it at 6:05am. This means that two Emirates A380's in at the same time if anyone is interested.

They depart 10 minutes apart ( EK412: 8:50am - EK8413: 9:00am)

Would be neat if anyone can catch them both in one frame. :D

I went out spotting on Saturday and also noticed TG476 came back to YSSY - I would think, about 2 hours after it's normal departure time, which I think took off on time.

HS-TGO rotated again about half an hour later.

It was a great sight to see TGO exiting the taxiway and facing me whilst at The Beach. At the time though, I was wondering if TG had initiated an extra flight to SYD or had to rub my eyes to ensure it wasn't one of their Thai Cargo B744BCF, having been absent for a good month (anything could happen).

Anyway, so does anyone know why TGO/TG476 turned back? Was it medical? It wasn't reported on avherald.com so I was curious as well.

Hi Hendra,

Looking at the Flightaware (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/THA476/history/20120826/0000Z/YSSY/VTBS), on Sunday it came back to SYD - although, still unsure as to reason why...

Additionally, this view (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/THA476/history/20120826/0000Z/YSSY/VTBS/tracklog) shows its hieght/speed for flight...

Thai returned due to a medical issue with a passenger.
