Brisbane Airport Closure!

Hi Everyone,
I was flying into Brisbane today onbard JQ816 and about half way the Captain said that the Airport was closed and we were heading back to Sydney to refuel and return, can anyone give me anymore information regarding the weather and conditions that caused us to turn around

Pretty big storms plus extra long holding times.

The airports never 'close' anymore, the ramps can be 'closed' due to lightning activity, but it's up to the individual pilots to make their own decisions about if they will land. If they returned to SYD it would have been due to them having insufficient fuel to hold for the required time.
