MH loss, they should have up graded to 380 to Melbourne and Sydney!

The KL | AUS | KL market wouldn't deliver healthy yields.

Jetstar could not make it work years ago, with lower cASK's than MH.

MH is probably losing money on this market, and Air Asia, well their cASK's are ridiculously low, and have no other direct competition.

Interesting.

I think you'll find part of the reason D7 has increased Oz services is to keep their planes in the air, with the delay in the opening of KLIA2 they have no other option as parking at the LCCT is at a premium with D7 only having 4 bays.

Also take into account they have recently taken delivery of a number of A333's including their last 2 factory fresh ones -XXJ and -XXK, the first of 7 second hand ex CX/KA A333's is ready in Singapore for delivery -XXL too. -XXM is also at SIAEC in Singapore undergoing preparation for service also.

I just came back from KL on Tuesday and their wasn't too many spare seats onboard so they are doing well out of Perth. Flight up had 308 pax on.

I would have expected better from The Australian. Stating that the new Air Asia X service will be Adelaide's only direct flights to KL. Unless of course they are replacing MH's daily service which I doubt, particularly as The Advertiser quotes the SA Premier (http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/budget-airline-air-asia-x-to-fly-from-adelaide-from-october/story-fni6uo1m-1226687532696) as saying these new flights now exceed a 2020 target for weekly international airline seats into Adelaide.

MALAYSIAN-based carrier AirAsia X will establish its fifth Australian beachhead with low-cost flights from Adelaide to Kuala Lumpur starting October 30.

The low-cost, long-haul airline already serves Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast and has been looking at Adelaide for more than year.

It flies Airbus A330 aircraft with sleeper beds in its premium cabin and competes with Jetstar International and Singapore Airlines-owned Scoot for Aussie leisure travellers.

The four-times weekly Adelaide service, the city's only direct flight to Kuala Lumpur, is part of an increased focus on Australian routes by the carrier.

It is moving to daily flights to the Gold Coast from Kuala Lumpur from November 24, up from five a week now, after earlier this month increasing its Sydney flights from seven a week to 10 and adding an extra Melbourne flight.

The airline is launching the new service with economy sale fares from $99 one-way and premium sale fares from $599 one-way.

Air Asia X chief executive Azran Osman-Rani said the new services would provide South Australians with access to more than 80 destinations across 20 countries.

"Australia is one of our core markets where AirAsia X will see its wings expand and the Adelaide route has been a priority," Mr Osman-Rani said. "Our goal since launching our first Australian service on the Gold Coast in 2007 was to operate in the five major states, and we are proud to have accomplished this within six years."
