Hi guys,

Have noticed 744 OJT has been at AVV for the past week. Is she the next to go or just getting a service?

Cheers

That's one of the late model RRs which are part of the final 9 including the 6 post 2002 -ERs AFAIK.

As David said, the final 9 are OJS,OJT,OJU and the six ERs OEE to OEJ.

That said,I think OJT will be around for a while yet.

OJC has actually been down at AVV longer (since 18Nov) and I don't think its back yet either, but I suspect it is for some scheduled maintenance.

Cheers

VH-OJC (http://www.16right.com/ACARS.php?Regno=VH-ojc&Flightno=&ACARSdate=&submit=Search) still appears to be down at Avalon, nothing on ACARS since 18 NOV.

The last few Qantas 747's to be retired generally end up in Sydney on their last flight and have their titles removed in Sydney before they head direct to desert or operate to LAX from Sydney. Avalon is still one of the main bases for 747 maintenance.
As mentioned VH-OJT is the 2nd youngest roller 747, it will be one of the last to go and it should stick around a while like OJS and OJU.

OJC back into SYD from AVV this afternoon as QF6196.

It appears that OJT is still in Avalon. Does anyone have any info on why that is?

A D Check on would think, one on a 737 takes about six weeks so you would assume a 747 would take a lot longer, I'm no expert though.

I didn't think they were doing D's in AVV??

Hi All,

OJT arrived AVV 7th Dec. for a D Check.
For memory, a D Check on B744 takes about 3 months.
As they check all aircraft parts, and look for stress cracks and Corrosions.

OJT positioned AVV-SYD yesterday. Arrived at 1949.

OJS positioned SYD-AVV yesterday for maintenance. Departed at 1957.
