I was driving down the fwy this arvo and a I saw a MH cargo 747 at AVV. I don't think it had anything to do with the airshow, but saying that the Grand Prix isn't for another 2 weeks, so I could be wrong.

so far as we can tell at the moment there will be the following

leaving EMA (East Midlands)
06/03/2013 2 x 747F
07/03/2013 1 x 747F
09/03/2013 1 x 747F

airlines that look like doing the flights this year are KLM Cargo, Atlasair and Cargolux so doesnt look like you guys will get a BA 748F this time round
but as they say things change,

there was scheduled a 747F for today but doesnt look like thats happening now.

will try to update with a schedule of flights when i get them

best wishes to all

Well Polar has a DHL contract that uses Atlas/Polar aircraft. DHL is the prime mover for the F1, So it looks like Atlas has neg there way to haul the F1's around this year!

robert J
9th March 2013, 08:30 PM
yes probably puts them in prime position to get the gig i would imagine

Brian Wilkes
9th March 2013, 08:34 PM
So I guessing with this invasion and the CLX via Milan to pick the cars up Im guessing no KLM 744F.

robert J
9th March 2013, 08:37 PM
doesnt look like it at the moment which is a shame as always like to see the KLM Cargo 747's at EMA,

as a sidenote how many bizjets does the grand prix bring to melbourne and surrounding areas

Brian Wilkes
9th March 2013, 08:43 PM
Depends a number from 6 to 12.......which is not much due our distance to travel. Half of those are sponsors and drivers private transports.
Not like the EU where you sit at an airport near the GP and you count them by the dozens!

robert J
9th March 2013, 08:52 PM
quite surprised by the low number , they mainly use luton for the british GP and a few of the drivers go into oxford.

thanks for the info

best wishes rob

LV-VCG 747-8F Cargolux due around 06.30 tmw (currently on ground at SIN) as CLX894/5, & N497MC 747-400F Atlas due around 07.30 as GTI2692. There is likely to be another Atlas 747-400F, probably using an Etihad callsign but it won't be until either late tmw or Monday, & could be to either AVV or MEL. Looks like this will be N476MC.

G'day Morris.

Thanks for the info Robert, unfortunately as any spotter who has been around since the 80s will tell you, Sydney is a lot harder to photograph at than it used to be. But yes the beach remains.

robert J

Hi Morris. I was content to see the Cargolux from a fair distance. I would have liked to have chased it at AVV, but the timing wasn't the best. If it had landed in daylight, that would have been different....always next year !

Thanks to Robert for the updates from EMA. Hopefully the ****ty Pommie weather will improve soon (spoken by an ex-pom who couldn't stand the incessant rain in Cheshire !).
