Hello Everyone!

This is my first post!

I've been dying to find out the registration numbers of the flights I took 7 years ago across Australia... and I stumbled across the amazing 16right! Only to found my flights were just slightly before its earliest records...

So I came here hoping to get some helps from you guys!!

I hope this is the right place to post this kind of request. If not, please let me know.

Here are the flights: (Time is local, scheduled time)
2005-05-31 / CX 111 / HKG-SYD / Arrival at 06:15 (HKG Departure: 05-30, 19:10)

2005-06-09 / DJ 712 / CBR-MEL / 0915-1020
2005-06-16 / DJ 315 / MEL-BNE / 1030-1230

2005-06-17 / CX 102 / BNE-HKG / Departure at 13:05 (HKG Arrival: same day, 19:55)

I have tried many places but couldn't get any clue...
Hope someone can help me!

Thanks for taking your time reading. :)

Hi Bryan,

I had a look on Oz-Spotters, which has several ACARS/SBS logs per day, going back to 2000, but unfortunately in 2005, Virgin Blue aircraft didn't 'ping' & there is no report for either Cathay Pacific aircraft either.

So unless someone was at the airport on those days, & keen enough to log the flight numbers......!

Cheers, Ian.

Hello Ian & everyone,

Thank you so much for taking your time checking up the reg numbers for me!!!
Truly appreciate your help!

I guess this will become very difficult for me though...
I wrote to Virgin Australia but they said they didn't have the record...
And now you mentioned that at the time Virgin Blue didn't send out any info....
I even tried to ask CASA but they said they didn't hold any records there...
mmm... I thought such records should be with civil aviation authority like CASA...

Well.. I guess I can only have my fingers crossed and hope for the miracles!!!!!
If there's any other place I can try, please let me know!

I would like to thank Ian and everyone else who reads this and who tries to help me. Thank you!

:)

P.S. My post was moved to "Rego Request." But I checked the guideline, it says posts for past flights enquires go to "Spotting and Movements." "Rego Request" is for upcoming flights.... Shouldn't my post be "Spotting and Movements" since it's about past flights?? Sorry for asking this newbie question.. :P

Thanks for moderating your own thread, you are correct! ;) - at least this way you got coverage in both sections - mod

Maybe a long shot, but have you had a look at JetPhotos and airliners.net to see if someone took any photos and published them on the days you refer to?

Thank you Nigel for your suggestions!!!!

I have tried JetPhotos but not even one DJ flights was on both dates... :(

Will try Airliners later!

Is there any site which specializes in Oz flights??

Thank you very much!!! :)

Hi Bryan,

You might like to try Oz Spotters and see if any of the ADS-B guru's over there had any logs from back in 05. I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for...

Good luck!

Hello guys!!

I am very grateful for all your help!!!

Thank you Ian, Nigel and Kurt - I have searched around those sites you mentioned. No success, but my thanks are no less! I do learn something from it like JetPhotos and Airliners sometimes have different photos - good for cross-referencing planes!!!

And just when I felt defeated then I saw Andi's miraculous message!!!
Thank you Andi for your help and your time!!!! I'm really speechless!!!

May I humbly ask the source Andi? Are the records from Acars or movements? Your personal record?? Could I have the privilege to know more??? I'm beyond impressed!!!! :):)

And actually.... I have 2 more flights that I originally sorta gave up finding the reg number... but now I regain some hopes! It was my first ever visit to Oz!!! :)

(Time is local, scheduled time)
1999-08-30 / AE 801 / TPE-SYD / Arrival at 09:50 (TPE Departure: 8-29, 22:50)
1999-09-02 / AE 802 / SYD-TPE / Departure at 11:45 (TPE Arrival: same day, 19:00)

It would be really nice if anyone could offer me any form of help!

Thanks everyone!!!! :)

Your Manadrin Flights were operated by MD-11 B-18151 on both legs.

My sources are various, but this is the sort of information I have been gathering for many years now. Glad to be able to help out

Oh I have another question for everyone that I couldn't get definite answer online:

What is the terminal plan like for SYD/YSSY in 1999 and 2005? I am asking because I would like to record down which terminal my flights arrived/departed.

I am guessing these flights were all at the present International Terminal T1. Right??

And... back in 1999 and 2005, what was the terminal called? International Terminal? T1? Or it has always been called International Terminal T1?? When did SYD/YSSY start to have a second terminal??

Thanks for your reading...
Have a nice day everyone!!! :)

It was only a couple of years ago that they changed it to being T1, T2 and T3. Back in '99 it was just known as the International Terminal, Qantas Domestic and Ansett Domestic. I couldn't give you the dates for when Virgin and then JetStar occupied the current T2 terminal.

Thank you Nigel!

So in 1999, all the international flights went to "International Terminal," right?
In 1999, was there a second terminal or not??

In 2005, all the international flights still went to current T1, right? It was called "International Terminal" or "T1?"

Happy Monday! Thank you guys!!!! :)

So in 1999, all the international flights went to "International Terminal," right? Yep.
In 1999, was there a second terminal or not?? There was both the Qantas domestic and Ansett domestic on the eastern side of the main runway, and the international terminal on the western side. There is still only one international terminal.

In 2005, all the international flights still went to current T1, right? It was called "International Terminal" or "T1?" I can't remember when they changed it to T1, T2 etc, but I'm pretty sure in '05 it was still the international Terminal.

Happy Monday! Thank you guys!!!! :) Happy Monday to you, and you're most welcome.

Thank you Nigel for your explanation!!!!

I tried to find SYD's terminal map in 1999 and 2005 online... But couldn't find any!!! Such historical information is very important and interesting! Where can one find it normally? City library or something???

Thank you very much!!!! :)

Have a look at www.sydneyairport.com.au and there might be a link in there somewhere. I know there is a huge archive of aerial photos from nearly every year from the 1940's until the present that I can access at work via the intranet, so there possibly may be some of those available to the public as well.

Thanks for the direction, Nigel!!

I didn't find any aerial photos from 1940s on the website.... It would be really nice if they were online!!! Well, there's Google Earth which has images from 2000s...

What I am interested in more is the historical/vintage terminal maps the the airport printed/gave out... where one sees the a bit of signage, naming, mapping out of the terminals and facilities... I serious think someone should make them an archive and exhibit them from time to time!!!

--

Back to the terminal naming, I did have some fun treasure hunting under CORPORATE>ABOUT US>ANNUAL REPORT. (http://www.sydneyairport.com.au/corporate/about-us/annual-report.aspx) Thank you for providing this source!!

I found from 2003 report onward, T1, T2, T3 can be seen in the report, on the last "fact sheet" page, as well as throughout the report. In 2002 report, on page 19, "Terminal 2" was mentioned (...Ansett Domestic Terminal-now known as T2...).

My question is, are these annual reports accurate/reliable source to determine the naming of the terminals? I mean, is it possible that, for example, they use T1, T2, T3 first internally (as seen in those reports), before they were made public?

If they are reliable, can I assume that the naming T1, T2... happened sometime in 2002, or even earlier?? (the 2002 report is the earliest one can find online) But even so... in the 2002 report, there's no sight of T1. It's always named "International Terminal" throughout the report including fact sheet. "Terminal 2" was mentioned on the page 19, but the fact sheet uses "Ansett Domestic Terminal," intriguingly listed AFTER Quantas Domestic Terminal.

Sorry for the long post guys. Do I take these reports seriously??

Thank you guys for reading/helping!!!!
:)
