Mr Burns says his partner saw the other plane on the ground as they were coming into land and then the pilot quickly accelerated back into the sky again.

There is a whole suite of variables that could come into play as to why the runway was still occupied when the decision for a missed approach was made (either by pilot or ATC). To accuse ATC of a 'mistake' without knowing all of the facts is rather reckless.

I saw the go-around in question on 16R. Nothing out of the ordinary, it would happen on a regular basis. As Bernie said, how could he see 'the other plane' from where he was sitting?

As Nigel said, casting dispersions on the ATC is reckless. I can't believe this guy got news space - I was a witness, shouldn't I be interviewed?

The plane on the runway that was slow to get away was a company 738 Matt. I saw it happen, maybe a bit of sloppy Air Traffic Controlling or maybe a slow moving aircraft, I didn't hear it on the scanner at the time but either way it was no big deal. It would've been worse if it didn't go around :eek: :p

Word is the aircraft on the runway was asked if he could do an "immediate departure", i.e. turn on and hit TOGA to keep going,, and was cleared as such, but instead he briefly held.

ATC immediately sent the landing aircraft around. It was a benign incident and the go-around aircraft always had the taking off aircraft in sight.

Nothing to see here Mr Burns...
