Anyone know what the rego for the C-17 was that just departed YSSY and why it was here?

If it was the same as the one in ADL the other night, ferrying media for election news... - A41-207

I bet you the RAAF would be thrilled to bits, knowing that one of there prized assets are flying around 30 people from the media. And getting absolutely hammered by them for as they have insinuated that its a lemon for "breaking down" in the news reports that have been on ABC this morning.

Why can't they fly domestic? Actually I know why, and that would make the RAAF even happier to escort these people around....

Sorry Mods can you move this to discussion thread, thanks.

Not necessarily Bernie, A41-208 was here a few nights ago.

Thanks Bernie for the rego - just found a news story saying that there was a problem with the aircraft, so that is why they arrived in YSSY unexpectedly.

Today's Air Canada flight#34 returned to Sydney at 12:20.
Any known details?

There didn't look to be much of a fuel dump as going by flightradar24, the decision to return was made at approx 12pm.
Emergency response crews followed the aircraft in from touchdown to the gate.
Assume this would suggest it was not a medical issue?

It was a medical return. I listened to the pilot describing the sick passenger as conscious but in a serious condition. The tenders probably followed the aircraft in to check on overheating and a possible fire from the landing gear as it would have landed at maximum landing weight.

Noticed VH-XML at Christchurch in Qantas Freight colours. Looked pretty good.

Yes Gerald XML on the side has Qantas in black and Freight in red. Will all the AAE 737's get the same treatment? There goes another livery from our skies then.

It looks a lot better than the 767 and yes it has the kangaroo on the tail.

Yes Jarden all 4 AAE 733'S will be painted.

Here is a shot of VH-XML (http://mrcaviation.blogspot.com.au/2013/08/new-livery.html) now in Qantas Freight livery.
