Hi all,

I will be flying VA later this year from ADL-SYD, connecting in SYD to HA for SYD-HNL.

My question is, while I realize my bags will be tagged through to HNL, what boarding passes will be issued in ADL? Will I receive my HA boarding passes, or will I need to go to the HA check-in counters at T1 in SYD? If I do need to go to the HA desks, can I just go to the Service Desk (like I have done with JL many years ago for an AN/JL transfer for ADL-SYD-NRT), or do I need to line up with the regular check-in queue?

VA's website states the following and says you check-in for your international flight at T2 Gate 37 before boarding the bus, but I assume that is just for VA international flights?

Domestic Check-in Connecting through Sydney

When you check in at a domestic port, your bags will be checked through to your final destination. You will receive a transfer wallet, which contains a map of the transfer port and a bus pass to use in Sydney. Upon arriving in Sydney, make your way to the transfer lounge at Gate 37 and check in for your international flight. Once you have received a boarding pass for your international flight, you will be shown downstairs to the transfer bus – which will take you to the International Terminal. If you are issued with a boarding pass at the transfer lounge, you will not be required to check in again at the International Terminal.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Questions:

1) is it a single itinery? Or two separate bookings?
2) does the HA flight have a VA number on it?
3) does you itinery mention anything to do with the transfer?

Hi James,

To answer your questions:

1) It's a single itinerary;
2) The HA flight does not have a VA number on it;
3) The itinerary doesn't mention anything about the transfer.

Thanks.

This is the information I could find, I was under the impression that they check you all the way now, it would obviously pay to ask at the checkin counters...

Just in case anyone is interested for future reference if connecting from VA to HA, I decided to email Virgin Australia and received the following response.

Please be advised upon check in at Adelaide Airport, you will receive your boarding passes for all your flights. Your bags will also be checked through to Honolulu.
