In the Debrief section of this months Australian Aviation it is stated that...

Brisbane, our third busiest port, predicted to move to number two.

In what year is Brisbane predicated to take over Melbourne? The latest figures I found were...

Melbourne: 29,980,000 (2012/2013)
Brisbane: 21,017,060 (2011/2012)

Between 2006/7 and 2012/13 BNE grew it pax from 17.3M to 21.1M. MEL grew total pax from 21.0M to 29.5M. On that basis, BNE ain't catching MEL soon if ever.

Likewise in aircraft movements
BNE 06/07 144K, 12/13 188K
MEK 06/07 176K, 12/13 215K

I thought BNE was ahead of MEL in terms of aircraft movements. As we keep getting reminded by the BNE boys they are ahead of MEL in movements, but MEL doesn't have all the GA, Air Ambulance, FIFO and bizjets movements, take them out of the BNE movements and the count drops right off .;)

Well technically if you are going by aircraft movements Brisbane is actually number 5 - after Sydney, Jandakot, Moorabin and Bankstown for FY13!
