Question about radar field closure

The radar field was shut five or more years ago, but it was a good spot for views/shots of jets taxying to/from the domestic terminal. Was it shut solely for security purposes?

Doesn't the 'new' carpark encroach on the old means of getting to the radar field ?

I don't know. I haven't been near the old radar field for a long time. Not much point trying to go there now. I'm talking about the area near the fire station. There was some building or excavating work going on in that area last time I was over that way, but that was ages ago.

I noticed taxiing past the radar field this morning a blue ride-on mower apparently abandoned in the long grass in the radar field - anyone know what happened to it?

It's a tool for spotters to use so they can pass as a council worker while taking photos ;-p.

Haven't been there for a few years, hopefully It becomes available again for spotters to utilise.
