Hello all,

With the inaugural arrival of Sichuan Airlines A330 into YSSY this Friday around 2pm, Sydney Airports Corporation has kindly made available 4 photography spots on the Media Bus to active members of our Forum.

Media are invited to join the special Media Bus to film/photograph the arrival on the tarmac, followed by a media conference.- You may bring your camera gear in a suitable sized back-pack, and it will need to be screened by security.
- You won't need your 600mm prime lens so only pack what you'll need.
- Don't forget your hat, sun glasses and sun cream.
- The entire Media event will take place under the complete control, direction and escort of SACL at all times.

To determine validity before you register your seat on the Media Bus, you must first strictly comply with the following. You,

- Must be must be 18 years or older to participate.
- Must be an active registered member of the Sydney Airport Message Board, with tenure in excess of 6 months from before 20th December 2013.
(Check your profile for validity via the community, member list here http://yssyforum.net/board/memberlist.php (http://yssyforum.net/board/memberlist.php))
- Must present photo ID to prove your identity. If anyone holds a valid Red ASIC pass for SYD or Australia wide then they should have this in their possession as a secondary ID.
- Acknowledge that you are 100% available to attend on Friday 20th December between 12.30pm and 4pm. Any fail-to-show or late comers will forfeit their seat and may be subject to User Account suspension or termination from SAMB.
- Must wear fully enclosed shoes, no thongs are permitted

Furthermore You,

- Must ensure that your email address in your User Profile is accurate and valid so that I can make immediate contact with you after successful registration.
- Must be willing to complete a Sydney Airport Visitor Form and have it returned via email as .pdf upon request to assist in the screening process by 10.30am on Wednesday 18th December.

You acknowledge that your seat will be forfeited if you are unable to comply with any of the above. Please do not register if you are simply unable to come or are unable to process the required paper work.

How to register your seat on the Airside Tour?
Review again the terms and conditions above to determine your validity and then post a reply in this thread indicating your RSVP as such. A quick post like the example below will suffice.

“Please accept my request to attend, I acknowledge all the terms and conditions set forth and look forward to your confirmation” I will make notifications to those valid registrations via email once allocations are exhausted, by 10am Wednesday 18th December. Please be prepared to check your email and be ready to respond to me with your mobile phone details ASAP.

Please treat this opportunity with the respect it deserves. So when on the bus and out in the field, apply your upmost sensible and courteous behaviour. The airport is not a playground; it’s a serious operation which carries severe penalties for those who choose to disobey rules and regulations. The fact that SACL has kindly made available 4 seats for this event speaks volume to their commitment in building a positive relationship between our two communities. We want to ensure this relationship stays intact. So as you might imagine, any untoward behaviour on the tour may result in no such opportunities in the future. Security and safety is always the number one priority and SACL will ensure that these two aspects are maintained throughout the entire 4 hours you're under their supervision.

Please also understand that I do apologise to those people who unfortunately may not be able to attend; either due age restriction, SAMB tenure, or if you miss out due limited numbers. This was a last minute opportunity and unfortunately there was no time to lose in securing attendance.

Kind regards,
Kurt Ams

I hate to have missed out. Can someone tell me how I get prior notification of such media access events? This one came through at very short notice. I would've loved to have been there!

Thank you again Kurt for organising the logistics with SAC - greatly appreciated, and at short notice.

The Alpha 5 stop bar was the perfect location for the afternoon arrival.

Hi Robbie,

In some cases there is very little notice given for events like these, so it's wise to check the forum often. It is unfortunate you were unable to attend on this occasion but there were limited spaces available and a very limited time to secure a spot.
Notification was given and a first in approach needed to be taken to secure all the paper work for SACL's requirements.

Cheers,
Kurt.

This is the video I recorded while shooting the arrival of the Sichuan Airlines A330-200 B-6535 - Inaugural Flight Chengdu-Chongqing-Sydney.

Watch The Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gD_dYNGfzeU)

I have now adjusted the convergence angle between the Nikon D300 and Canon R-38 so that they align at an intermediate distance (just a little too much angle for the yesterday). Next step is to 3D print a specific mount, where the angle can be adjusted for short, medium and long range shooting.

7 pilots to crew an A330...?

Grahame Hutchison

With only two flight a week and the aircraft arriving a 1400 and departing at 2145, it might have something to do with crew hours. Possibly some other extras for the new route.
