Canberra Airport Open Day

Folks,
Have heard that Canberra Airport will be doing its usual open day this year. Date appears to be Sunday April 6.

No information on what will be on display at this stage.

Qantas/Qantaslink- B738 (thinking it will be XZJ), two-class 717 and a Q400
VA- B738
HARS-Connie, C47, Catalina and a Caribou
RAAF-F35

Might be a few others I'm not entirely sure

Any ideas Zac what the Rego of the 717 is, I'm guessing YQS or similar

I've not looked at the schedules to see how many they need in service on Sunday, but wondering if YQV might come to be shown off before entering service later next week? Otherwise YQS, YQT or YQU... no good showing off the all-Y as they don't fly here (except as subs).

Edit: so I did the maths and they need two for BNE runs throughout the day. Other than that the only 2-class 717 flight that day is SYD-CBR arriving at 0915 which will presumably be the display aircraft.

At this point in time, YQU will be the 717, XZJ will be the 738 and LQH will be the Q400

But YQU doesn't have Q Streaming...??

I wish I were there to see it though... Any idea on any charity flight this year?

I'm not 100% sure on the charity flight, but LQH is scheduled back online at 1455!

As for Q Streaming, whilst I would love to be able to show it off I think the biggest problem is how! It's a logistical nightmare trying to keep track of the iPads when there are hundreds of people walking though the plane.

But YQU doesn't have Q Streaming...??

YQU should have Qstreaming - I thought all the YQ-series 717s were meant to be equipped with them.

It's just whether there will be iPads available to demonstrate the system. From experience, my own iPad could not connect to the Qstreaming wifi system onboard a 767. I'm not sure how different (or similar) the 717's system would be. I'm assuming it'd be more similar than different.

From what I can gather there is some sort of issue with YQU and the Q streaming system which is yet to be rectified, certainly wasn't working when I flew her!

If it's till 1.30pm and LQH is back online at 1455, I doubt there will one as the flight is normally an 45 minutes to an hour, the turnaround time would make it hard for this to occur.

When would YQV come online, any chance it might make an appearance by then?

Does anyone have any idea of the eta for the Connie and Catalina into CBR? Would love to catch some pics of them flying in.

Flightaware suggests they will all be on the way shortly. Arriving CBR between 1500 and 1700

Was a good array of aircraft today, but also very crowded.

One light shower Graham- enough to scatter the crowd. And as Ray said, it was a great crowd at its peak. Traffic is a problem if approaching from the Federal Hwy via Majura Drive. I took just over an hour to semi circle the airport from the northern fence line to the car park- so come early!
I stayed for the departure of the veterans, and return of the commercials to the terminal. Very worthwhile, and an enjoyable day.
