It looked spectacular from the farm. A shame about the weather and heavy cloud cover though.

QFA6601 was indeed low and slow over Sydney Harbour this afternoon, slowing to 120 odd knots and descending to 1100 feet in overcast conditions.

If you have a look at the FlightAware track (http://flightaware.com/live/flight/QFA6601/history/20140126/0115ZZ/YSSY/YSSY), you will see a perfect doughnut over Cremorne at 12.51pm (after the U turn around Woolwich).

What is the turning circle of an A380? Looks to be around 1500m!

QF6601 was operated by A380 VH-OQE, and the northern leg up to Pittwwter was just to the west of our house, and low, slow and quite.

I was just driving East along Lyons Rd at Drummoyne on my way home and caught the end of the U-turn as it headed South East. Annoying as I usually video this each year and for the first time the U-turn was over my place instead of further south/west and I wasn't home to see it! :(

Some nice footage but a bit too heavily edited, and the increased playback speed spoiled the view as well. I'd have liked to see the circle over Cremorne as well as the whole run through the Heads.

Better than nothing...

Certainly that's true, Nige, but like the perfect photo we crave, we are an uncompromising lot sometimes.

If your steak is tough and grisly on Friday night, will it really be better than nothing ... :D

So long as it's not on the floor....

Agreed, I draw the line when the carpet fluff gets in the way.
