An interesting read in the March edition of Australian Aviation, "Coming Up Short", an article on the recent Asiana B777 crash in San Francisco.

Tragic as the accident was, the NTSB report should hopefully drive some change/improvements around Automation and the Pilot Interface, ensuring understanding of the Automation, the design of escape slides to handle high lateral stress, ARFF training on approaching the accident site and use of HRET equipment, and airport disaster drills. Asiana needs a thorough review of its Pilot and Instructor Training.
