on the 11th of June Emirates announced that they had cancelled all 70 of there A350 orders which included 50 A350 900s and 20 A350 1000s. but Emirates has still not explained why they cancelled these aircraft but airbus hinted it was due to the aircraft not going to be able to cope with the harsh conditions of the desert.

At least it will help in the simplification of their operations with only 2 types: the Boeing 777 and the Airbus A380 :)

airbus hinted it was due to the aircraft not going to be able to cope with the harsh conditions of the desert.

This is a strange reason, could it have anything to do with the composite materials?
How is the Qatar 787 going in these conditions?

More likely due to the fact the A350 would be too small for their needs.
It would be very unwise if Airbus indicates the airplane would not cope with the desert conditions, due to significant orders from both Etihad and Qatar...

According to Airbus website: "Half a year before entry into service, the A350 XWB order book stands at a healthy 742 firm orders...."
The sandstorm seems to blowing over with little harm.
